For starters if you do not have a steam or hot pressure washer you are not going to be able to remove the chewing gum properly from the concrete instead you are going to be trying to chip it off and in return you are going to etch the concrete and leave marks that will never go away long after the gum would have been gone. OK you may be able to get a couple fresh pieces of but that is about it.
How much is a hot or steam pressure washer? About $6000 to $10,000.
So which leads you to think is it worth purchasing a machine that cost that much and then training one of your employees and yourself how to run it and maintain it.
You see not only do you have to be able to use the machine properly you have to maintain it that can cost extra monies besides the purchase price. Now I do not know if you are a Chef or a shop owner but chances are you do not have time to learn a new trade, so why not just pay a company that specializes in chewing gum removal so you can concentrate on your business?
Another very inportant item is New Concrete. New concrete is very delicate and whereas you will still have many people that spit/throw their gum out onto it, you have to be very careful that you do not etch the concrete while removing it. I have seen so many companies hire a guy with a cold water pump or a company that hasn’t trained their people to work with new concrete and ruined the finish of new concrete in front of their establishments…Yes you can really do a number if your not careful.
We have a process just for new concrete it involve turning up the heat on our pumps and turing down the pressure so we are creating steam then we melt off the gum with hotter water than normal, many companies do not even have machines that will do this we do.
